Activities
On this page we collect events! Organised by the Guild itself or by its members, local to Groningen, or somewhere in the Netherlands that we could travel to together in a carpool or train party...
There will always be more events than we know of. On pages of various fiber salespeople you will often also find lists of events they're attending. If you subscribe to their newsletters or are a member of other guilds, for example the national Quilting guild or the national Spinning guild, those also have good lists for national events.

Voskop's Spinning Workshops
Come spin yarn with us! I can teach you whatever I know and let you (in a supervised way) use my tools. I can give you a beginner's initiation to spinning, show you how to (chain) ply on a wheel, help you wind yarn into a ball or skein or center-pull ball, and help you process fleece with my drum carder. Email fiberguildgroningen@proton.me with questions and interest, with "Voskop's Spinning Workshop" as the subject.
Local to Groningen
Cordi Atelier 50 years (Fri 11 and Sat 12 September)
Cordi has been in business for 50 years and she is celebrating! There'll be presentations, festive workshops and a show of works. Friday 11 the official opening is at 11am. They'll also announce the workshops for the coming year here. There's even surprise gifts for all customers as long as supplies last.
Zeldzaam Mooi (1 Nov 2026, Vismarkt)
A market for locally (hand)made creative stuff. They have a calendar and are in more locations on other days, but this day they'll be on Vismarkt.
If you want to participate as a vendor, you can book a market spot! They also have a mentoring program you could enter to turn your creativity into business, if you're into that.
Regular Groningen Meetups
Knits & Knots (1x/month, at Studio Boter)
This one doesn't have its own webpage, but you can find information about it on Studio Boter's page (scroll down for a calendar overview). Cosy yarnworks meetup! People bring lots of cookies and other snacks, and the place provides tea and water but can sell you soda if you want. No cost except voluntary donations.
Remaining 2026 dates: 4 September, 2 October, 6 November, 4 December.
Queer Knitting Circle (1x/month, at Achterpand)
Every second saturday of the month. No info online available except for the time at Achterpand's contact page.
Studio Draadkracht (various)
Opening times are mon-wed-thu-fri 10-18 and sat 13-16. Nice paid options for beginners who want to learn, and of course coffee and tea availability and the nice atmosphere.
- Sewing: They have a space where you can just walk in, no appointment needed. There's always a skilled volunteer present to help, and there's books/magazines around to get inspired by. The space has household and some specialised sewing machines. Every hour you're using the workspace is 4 euros, which includes coffee/tea, machinery explanations, and machinery use. More intense guidance rings you up at 7/hour. There's a full-week and full-month subscription card, too, at 30 euros for the week and 80 euros for the month. Stadjerspas holders get discounts.
- Crochet and knitting: Once a month on Thursday nights, 19-22 at night. 3 euros, with subscription options. More intense guidance option available (extra 8 euros).
- Repair café: Every saturday 13-16. 4 euros for two repairs. Learn how to do it yourself! There's other options for if you want to let the studio repair your things.
National
Creabeurs Heerenveen (28-29 August 2026)
Be advised that yarn isn't the only craft represented here - seems to be a lot of papercrafts too.
Handwerkweekend Heerenveen (14-15 November 2026)
Yarn! Sewing! Quilting! Embroidery! In Heerenveen so not quite as close as our own Handwerkbeurs in Martinihallen would have been but it's better than no Handwerkbeurs! Check out the Ravelry thread for planning of going together.
