The summer is rough! The weather is finally good enough to do stuff like natural dyes outdoors. We can wash wool and have it dry within a few days, without having it fog up the house, because we can open the windows without paying to heat the outdoors. On the flip side, it's too damn hot. I'm not usually sensitive to the heat, but an event at the start of the summer has knocked a lot of carefulness into me. Don't underestimate the hot weather, keep sipping water/electrolytes, and get you some shade, a fan, and a wet towel for on your face.
The good month since the last update has been spent making flyers and distributing them across the city. Kadocafé, Achterpand, Studio Boter, a bubble tea shop we frequent - all let us put our guild flyers, and in a few locations they apparently went fast and with positive commentary. That means people are finding this website, and if you're such a person who picked up one of our flyers at one of our favourite places in town - hello! Welcome! Let us know if you like the site or if you have suggestions for us to add, or join us on Ravelry. We've found an event in the middle of November in Heerenveen that's going to be our emotional equivalent to Handwerkbeurs Groningen at least for this year. We're hoping to get several more people to hang out on the hour-long bus ride with, so do go check out the Ravelry thread if you're interested :)
The good month has also been spent gathering more information about more places, links, events and other fun things. You can find new additions on our Yellow Pages, Activities (finally! not entirely complete to my tastes but that can be another day), and Resources. I think the most significant addition has been Studio Boter. We went to Knits and Knots yesterday and are absolutely going to go back next month. Find us there!
A personal note to sign off: I've found out that logging Ravelry projects is very fun and rewarding, though a hard habit to keep up!! I gotta remind myself once a month to sit down and update what I've got on there. I've also got two stitch patterns that I gotta write proper bag patterns for that I can actually upload to Ravelry's pattern database - for now you can just find them in my projects, the stitch pattern graph and description is just in there. I deeply admire how Karak manages to do it so meticulously - they've got their handspun yarns in there and everything. They're a true Ravelry power user.
